This week, the BBC World Service will explore how the different brands of women’s fashion and fashion accessories are changing in 2017.
In the UK, women’s apparel brands have been leading the way with an increase in sales of women clothing and fashion items.
For example, sales of the Prada collections jumped 33% from the previous year and have now surpassed the average UK clothing sales of £3.8bn.
In India, women have also been on a high in 2017, with sales increasing 20% and retail revenues growing 70%.
In Europe, women are still spending a disproportionate share of their income on clothes.
According to Euromonitor, the average women’s budget is only £7,000 a year.
For men, it is £10,000, and for women £12,000.
The trend towards women’s items has also been seen in the fashion industry.
In 2017, the UK-based brand Victoria Beckham launched a collection of 100 women’s dresses called the Victoria Beckham Collection.
The collection features designs by the fashion designer who is the most-watched woman in the world, and has also featured designs by fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld and designer Stella McCartney.
